Pacum

The internet has was out for two days. It was pretty terrible, but Kirsten and I learned to appreciate sitting on the balcony just chatting away our afternoon and evenings! It was actually quite enjoyable. We probably learned a little bit too much about each other...oh well!

So we tried Mate. It was sick nasty! Never again will we try that stuff!

We finally were able to go into the village yesterday.

(Kirsten and I in front of the villages' sign)

We were supposed to meet with chiefs of the village but they never showed up, so we decided to go around and introduce ourselves to all the families. Brother Shaw and his wife have been there before so most of the people remembered him. Kirsten and I were very humbled by their living conditions, but we noticed they were such HAPPY people. We did notice that just about every family had a parrot, dog, cat and a chicken.

The village speaks an Indian dialect called Nivacle. It just sounds like a whole bunch of tongue clicking to me, but we have learned a few phrases. To say "goodbye" is Pacum. To say "what is your name?" is Tat-A. Most of the men and children can speak Spanish, so we can kind of communicate with them. The little kids started following around after about an hour of visiting. When one grabbed my hand my heart melted!

(The first group of kids that started following us)

When we were about 2/3 of way through visiting the people I started to feel super dizzy and started seeing two of everything. I guess I hadn't drank enough water. I just laid down right in the middle of the road. After about ten minutes of drinking tons of water I was back to normal. When I laid down in the middle of the road some of the little kids started to wipe dirt off my legs. Probably the cutest thing ever!

(This is when I was pale white from just almost passing out. Please excuse me)

Today we played a whole bunch of games with the kids! We taught them to Hokey Pokey, the Macarana and duck duck goose.

(Kirsten and I bought some nail polish from the store and brought it with us today! The girls were in heaven)

(Kirsten passing out Candy!)

Also, Brother Shaw brought his Polaroid camera today. The little kids  loved the instant photos of themselves.

(This is what we usually eat for breakfast. An apple, a slice of watermelon, three cups of juice( so we don't get dehydrated) and a bowl of frosted flakes)

Kirsten and I went to the hotel pool today. It was wonderful! The temperature was perfect. Kirsten and I are going to make that an every day occurrence. We are just praying that the lady stripper and her boyfriend don't show up again. They were a little too much!

It is nice to have the internet again! We found out that Davita comes late tonight. We cannot wait to meet her!
